Mile End is often compared to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Same demographics: hipsters, artists and Hassidic Jews. What a mix! Throw in some bagels and you’ve got one of the hottest neighbourhoods in the city. Join Fran for a stroll down St. Viateur Street, lined with murals, sculptures, small stores, coffee shops, a most unusual place of worship, and not one but two bagel factories. She’ll explain how PROPER bagels are made and lay to rest the eternal debate about which are better: New York’s or Montreal’s. Too bad you won’t be able to smell those beauties as they come out of the woodfire oven. Something to look forward to when you come to Montreal in person.
The two most frequently asked questions Fran, a certified guide, hears on her tours are whether she is a native Montrealer and what her favourite “thing” about her city is. The answer to the first question is “yes”, and the answer to the second is “multiculturalism”, which, in her view, best defines Montreal. Sharing her enthusiasm and bragging about Montreal with visitors are what it’s all about. Although she has a penchant for great food (her mother is French after all!), history and architecture, what she enjoys most about guiding is the interaction with participants on her tours! Her wish is that you come away not so much with a tour or a lecture, but with a memorable experience.
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Montreal with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Montreal. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

This was a very enjoyable and informative tour of Mile End in Montreal. I could almost smell the bagels at the bakery.

Excellent tour with Fran! Montreal is a great place for food and Françoise will show you the best places for assortment of food in the area, especially the famous bagels! She goes inside the shops and walks us through the process of making them. Warning: will make you hungry! We also got to check out some cool street art. She's also super attentive to the questions in the chat, great commentaries, very good camera work...all in all very professional. With Fran you really get to experience Montreal's culture.
