Please note that each part in this series of tours is designed to be a stand alone tour. I.e. it's not necessary to have seen Parts 1, 2, or 3 to enjoy Part 4. Join Terry for a walk through these two striking memorials along the Tidal Basin of Washington, D.C. The FDR Memorial dates to 1997 and tells the story of the 4 Presidential terms of Franklin Delano Roosevelt until his death April 12, 1945. We'll then walk along the Tidal Basin, enjoying the views and the beautiful cherry blossom trees (due to open mid-March to mid April this year) to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was dedicated on August 28, 2011; the 48th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (see "Memorials Close-Up Part 1"). We'll discuss the life of this American martyr and his legacy. There is important symbolism in the design of the statue of Dr. King and we'll visit it and look at some of his quotations along the wall.

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Washington D.C. with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Washington D.C.. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.
Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
