About the tour

I’m inviting you to the very last apartment of Grigory Rasputin and the only place in Saint Petersburg that serves as a sort of memorial to that simple village man that managed to become the closest friend of the family of Nicholas II. Not everything you’ve heard or read about him is true. However, not all of that is a lie... Was he a holy sinner or a sinful saint? Was he a member of a religious sect or an opportunist? Nobody will ever be able to give us the answers. Before I take you to the area where Rasputin’s murder actually happened, I’d like to show you the door through which Grigori left his apartment to never come back. Also, I’ll tell you what we know from numerous memoirs and researches about Rasputin’s life in this apartment. The founder of this little memorial apartment and I will try to shed some light on the mysteries and myths around Rasputin. And we’ll try to answer your questions. Half of the tips you may want to leave as a token of gratitude for this tour (if you like it), I will donate for the needs of the museum - they are numerous! It’s all about facts and history that have been left for us.

Seeing Rasputin’s last residence and learning more about him was amazing. Seeing Anna walk through the door he used, using the original door handle, on the night he was killed, was amazing. I love Anna’s enthusiasm about Russian history and culture. And thanks to Dmitri for hosting our guide!

This was a brilliant tour with Anna, very interesting to find out the truth rather than the myth. Quite atmospheric being in the apartment whilst she spoke about him, even though it was virtual. Looking forward to learning more.
