About the tour

Meander with Mark along the spaarne, the reason Haarlem exists. It winds its pretty route past the old town, crossed by the tiny wooden drawbridge, the Gravensteenbrug. Lining the banks are lovely houses and some pretty grand and important buildings like the Teyler’s Museum, the oldest in the country. We can peak into the gracious Teyler’s Hofje and then finish off with the very photogenic Molen de Adriaan, Haarlem’s windmill on the river.

Mark - That Dam Guide

Mark has been sharing places and stories about Amsterdam, his adopted home, for 10 years now and he is still smitten by the place! He absolutely loves distilling chunks of history into bite-sized bits of fun. The vibrancy of the city takes his breath away, and he loves finding odd little details to share. Live-streaming tours are an exciting adventure as it is possible to open places and areas that are not accessible on in-person tours!

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Haarlem with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Haarlem. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

I always enjoy Mark's tours, and this is no exception. He has a great knowledge of history and adds fun anecdotes along the way. But be careful about his quizzes! 😉 Seeing Haarlem for my first time was delightful. Mark made sure we had plenty of good photo ops, and the scenery was wonderful. If we don't have access to a location, he manages to get the camera in between the rails, so you don't miss anything. Always a good tour with Mark!
