About the tour

An African healing journey guiding us through the stages of therapy and emotional release. The story begins with Maungira Emhere, a contemplative cry of lament over loss and pain echoing through melancholic wails, protest and reflection. We then receive insight with a reinterpretation of the Mashawe (Sickness) dance (Malawi). The throbbing beats of drums combined with theatrical play by the NYAKASIKANA in acrodance and contortion, identify the devastation and impact of the pandemic becoming subsequently infused with Mbira yeVarimujambwa and signdance to teach us the signs and symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety as well as prepare us for change. We are then reconciled to our state of wellbeing through Mbira yeDonhodzo as an aftercare and maintenance experience of culture, music and movement. This is accompanied by Ngorimba as a metaphor for the holistic experience of the Mbira Circus. The guide will not speak much on this tour but the circus will guide us through

Wonderful Saturday outing! It was a privilege to see so many talented young adults expressing their gifting. Signal and audio was perfect throughout the pre-festivities and the performance. Awesome guide with great portfolio of tours!
