About the tour

Join Patrick as he takes you to discover the REAL history of the shop ‘Shakespeare and Company’ in Paris. First opened by Sylvia Beach, this shop was a gathering place for writers such as Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Djuna Barnes, James Joyce, and Ford Madox Ford in the 1920’s. Then we will travel to the 50’s to discover the next generation in the new shop and meet the writers who were called the ‘tumbleweeds’. Finally we’ll travel to Kerouac’s Paris home to finish the tour.

Patrick

Patrick isn't one to shy away from travel and adventure. "I was lucky enough to travel the world with my job, discover different cultures, and meet incredible people!" he says, after having explored multiple cities across Europe and Asia. On his tours, you may catch more than a surprise or two about Paris. "In fact, it is an everyday experience. I'm a native Parisian, but every day, I continue to discover new things, new secrets about Paris. It's a never-ending story," he laughs. It was his love for Paris that led him to become a guide. "I'm a father and a teacher, and I realized that my passion was to share my knowledge, so I decided to be a guide about one of my passion: Paris!" Patrick chips in. "I enjoy sharing the love and passion I have for my own city, Paris. Its monuments, its history, its gastronomy, its culture, and all of its little secrets. I can't wait to share all of these with you!" "At the end of my tour I always give a virtual bise - two in fact being a good Parisian!" he laughs.

Patrick's tours shine with knowledge and fun! They're very interactive, and his enthusiasm shows he loves to share Paris with us. I always smile! Once he spent extra time at the end of a cemetery tour to find the grave of a deceased child for a Grandmother viewer. I appreciate how he was update as he slogged through rain and muddy slopes in another Cemetery tour to find Chopin. Thank you Patrick!

This trip was beautiful and inspiring for me. As a writer/publisher, this walk in particular was a dream come true. Patrick told us so many stories I had never heard before that left me feeling empowered and excited. What an amazing gift this opportunity was!

Another fascinating tour with Patrick to the Sorbonne, Shakespeare &Company, buildings old and new, 10th century vs 16th, bistros, beer on tap, wine cavas, and every thing in between.
