About the tour

Right in the heart of Yogyakarta city, this north-south main street is a must visit. We will start the tour from the ground zero of the city passing through the Dutch Fort and Presidential Palace up to the Central Market, while I will share the story about the city and its people. In the end, let’s enjoy the array of street vendors selling batik clothing and those deliciously colorful local snacks.

Meet Gagat

Gagat

Gagat loves Indonesian culture and has a great passion of showing his beautiful people and country. He will be more than happy to share some secrets of the places of interest one might never hear before, making your trip as interesting as possible. Having studied law and great attention to the current issues, he enjoys discussion with various topics over coffee in the afternoon, while also having a great passion in trains and planes. Gagat enjoys listening to almost all music genres and sometimes trying to sing at almost the right tune... no worries, he will only be guiding and not singing :)"

I can't remember the description of the 'tour' but I found it a bit 'samey' - but not a problem as it was lovely seeing people going about their business and a lively, friendly market area. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this tour though it was a little different than I had expected from the description. Its primary focus is on the markets - food, jewelry, etc. It is an interesting view of local life and the way Gagat does the tour, you feel like you are there on the street yourself looking at the food & products for sale and talking to the vendors.
