The highest-ranked university in sub-Saharan Africa in 2020 by the U.S. News & World Report ranking, Makerere is Uganda's oldest and largest high learning institution first established as a technical school in 1922 and became an independent national university by 1970. It currently has 9 colleges and one school with alumni such as President Milton Obote, Julius Nyerere, Benjamin Mpaka, Joseph Kabila and Mwai Kibaki, as well as prominent writers like Ngugi wa Thiong'o were at one point in their writing and academic careers at Makerere University. The College of Health Sciences and the research departments are working together with Uganda's Ministry of health to enhance COVID-19 awareness, and research focused on current issues to support evidence-based decision making, and mitigate the impact of the pandemic on essential health and other services, especially in vulnerable groups such as adolescents and children, refugees, among others. The University also inhabits and engages many persons with disabilities and actually Rosemary attends the Business school for her undergraduate degree! Join us as we discover more about the University and maybe, we could get to learn about why there are usually many students unrest, faculty disenchantment and how the longest standing building (Ivory tower) was gutted by fire in September 2020. This tour will be guided in International Signs by Noah as well as in English by Rosemary!
At Infinity Ideas Network, we envision to create and make available equal job opportunities for Deaf and Disabled young people for their sustainable social and economic standards of living. WHY DEAF? In Uganda, they are among the most stigmatized people who often live in isolation and are excluded with from their communities, from the education system, healthcare and other vital services. Most times they are hidden away by their families as they consider this as a bad omen. If you would like to contact us then please feel free to send an email to email@example.com.
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Kampala with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 60 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Kampala. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
