Let’s explore jewish culture and historical heritage of Lviv and Western Ukraine. Jewish community was an integral part of pre-war Lviv. Numerous scholars, writers, poets, satirists, artists and inventors lived and worked in the city. Lviv was a home to 44 synagogues and numerous prayer houses. And now we have only 2 buildings left that still serve purposes of the Jewish community. We will visit the Jewish Memorial to commemorate 136.000 victims of Holocaust. You will see first Lviv skyscraper and place, where Ukrainian Schindler’s Factory used to be. I will tell you about famous jews lawyers who studied in Lviv University and science fiction author who was born here. We will back in time together to the jewish reality of pre-war Lviv.
Olena is a local licensed guide in Lviv, Western Ukraine. While not a true Lviv citizen, being born in the South of Ukraine near Black Sea, Olena is still totally in love with the amazing city of Lviv! Her career as a guide started in 2015 when she was a part of Leopolis Jazz Fest, one of the most existing Lviv festivals.
