Meet Mary's Meanders Tours

Mary's Meanders Tours

Emma and Anne run Mary’s Meanders Tours & both have been guiding around Central Scotland for 8 years. They are lucky to be based in the historic Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots their namesake. A Dublin lass, born and bred, Emma came to Scotland via San Francisco, having married a Scotsman. Now resident, with her family, in the Linlithgow area since 2003, she brings a warm Irish hospitality to everyone she meets. Anne hails originally from Glasgow, but also boasts a proud Gaelic heritage, with her Mum, one of the dwindling band of native Gaelic speakers, and her MacLeod ancestors, coming from the Isle of Harris, where she spent her childhood summers on a traditional croft. They both love sharing the history, stories, and culture of Scotland with their guests including historic fiction, especially Outlander. One of their highlights of the past few years was when Visit Scotland asked Mary’s Meanders to host Diana Gabaldon the author on an Outlander tour. Anne is also an enthusiastic amateur genealogist and loves nothing better than getting immersed in the family trees of our ancestry visitors – and unearthing new information or special places to visit. Join Emma and Anne as they transport you to the world of Mary Queen of Scots and the home of Jamie Fraser, with Mary’s Meanders, you’ll arrive a visitor and leave a friend!
