About the tour

Let's go to the heart of Porto, the city's most central and busy spot: Aliados. We'll see the City Hall, the 1900's glorious buildings and discover the story of our loved King, that gave his heart to Porto and named us "Invictas". Then, we'll enter the old monastery that was turned into a train station, but looks more like an art gallery! With an amazing 20.000 blue and white Portuguese "azulejos" (glazed tiles), let's understand a bit more about tiles and also about the history of this country, "reading" together the gigantic historical panels, painted by the talented Jorge Colaço. Did you know that our Train Station of São Bento is considered one of the most beautiful in the world?! Get your cameras ready and let's go...

I've taken this tour once before with another guide, and thought I knew what to expect. But I was wrong--there was so much to soak in and enjoy. The tiles are the highlight of the tour, of course, and they are spectacular. Like pieces of some gigantic jigsaw puzzle, each tile represents only a small part of the overall picture. How it all comes together is astounding, evidenced by the beautiful mosaics throughout the train station. The station itself is an architectural wonder, certainly worth the visit. What a fascinating tour! Sara also took us around the area where the station is located, pointing out architecture and explaining the history of this seaport city. An absolutely beautiful tour, a real treat for the eyes and the mind. Enjoy!

Sara Mello delivered a fantastic tour yesterday night in Porto, starting in a very nice typical street, flowers street with some beautiful street art (including a huge cat) and then the amazing train station with 20000 tiles 👍. ALL the explanation about historical facts and also the explanation how to make a tile were super interesting! The Twilight was so beautiful that transport me to the magnificent city of Porto! The old Imperial cafe in the aliados avenue and its Inside were absolutely breathtaking ❤️ the city hall very interesting and the buildings in the surrounding area opponent and beautiful. Enjoyed very much and I'm very grateful that Sara can keep spending time with us, viewers of Heygo. I know it's not easy but it's an enormous pleasure to have Sara as your tour guide!!! 👏👏👏 Thank you ❣️
