About the tour

Potala Palace is the highest ancient palace in the world and likely the closest place to heaven. It was built in the 7th century AD during the time of the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo and has a history of over 1,300 years. Its purpose was for Songtsen Gambo to marry Princess Wencheng. Today, it is still the governing center of Tibet's political and religious unity and the symbol of Tibet and the landmark of Lhasa. The entire palace was built on the mountainside with pure Tibetan style. Its height is more than 200 meters and an appearance of 13 floors, but only 9 floors. The Palace is composed of 2 parts, the Red Palace as the center and the White Palace as two wings. The Red Palace is the highest part in the center that is completely devoted to religious study and Buddhist prayer. The red color represents stateliness and power. The White Palace once served as the office building of Tibet local government and as a residence for Dalai Lama. Its wall was painted to white to convey peace and quiet. Your guide will also take you on a walk to nearby Zongjiao Lukang Park, the most famous water area near the Potala Palace. Most of the photos of the Potala Palace reflected in the water are taken from this park. The park itself is well planned and has pleasant scenery that is full of Tibetan-style. Join us for this spiritual journey.

Tibet has been on the bucket list - but so hard to get there. This was an opportunity to get to see a country that few see - a good spontaneous tour live by Heygo guide Cassie
