As many Elephants are living in the wild of Sri Lanka, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is providing the treatments and the necessary care for the Elephants that get injured, wounded, diseased or be abandoned before weaning in the wild due to various circumstances. The orphanage was established in 1975 by the wildlife department of Sri Lanka. today it has become a prime tourist attraction and the income generates their spend on behalf of the elephants and for protecting them. captive breeding under the care of wildlife specialists in orphanages is very successful. I will show you the happiest moments of these giants while they are enjoying the river water during the daytime. You will get to know many interesting facts about Asian Elephants and their behaviours. The cultural aspect of Elephants in Sri Lanka is amazing. some times they are ceremonial and receive great respect from the people. Also, you will learn how the locals around the orphanage make elephant dung papers as an industry by using elephant poo.
