About the tour

FADO is probably the most typical music in my country, Portugal. Born in the XIX century, in traditional neighborhoods of seafarers and humble people, singing was the way to exteriorize feelings like longing ("Saudade"), heartaches, lonelyness and the difficult life's of the working classes. That's why it gained the reputation of being heartfelt and mournful singing, when in fact FADO, which means "Faith" can actually be really cheerful and upbeating. It sings about life, with its ups and downs! Quickly it was transmitted to the burgoisie and aristocracy, and then to all of the society, imposing itself as the true National Song. Compulsory, if you want to know about Portuguese culture, as it is UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, since 2011. Accompanied by the Portuguese Guitar and the Fado Guitar, the singer transmits so much passion, that it doesn't matter if you don't understand the language, it's all about the sentiment. And know everyone, please, "Silence", because FADO will start... ("Silêncio, que se vai cantar o FADO!").
