About the tour

Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a must-see for any Kyiv itinerary. Built in 1051, this UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most important holy grounds in Ukraine. The baroque architecture and golden dome roofs are breath-taking, and the full 28-hectare complex is a marvel to explore. This is not just a nice old cathedral. This is a huge complex of 20 churches, chapels, dormitories for monks, and caves! It's actually called the Monastery above the caves. It's about 1,000 years old, started by a couple of monks who lived in the caves along the Dnipro river, and it grew into this big monastery complex. The Cathedrals are extremely ornate. The place is incredible and breathtaking. The underground cavern system is situated 5 meters below the ground and there is no internet connection. Even if it would be there the filming is strictly forbidden. I’ll do my best and show you the true eerie and fascinating pictures. During your in-person visit to Kyiv you’ll discover the naturally embalmed mummies of monks and saints kept in glass coffins and wrapped in tapestries. There is a lot of history and meaning in this beautiful place.

Very fine! I appreciate the effort that Olga put into this tour, especially the little video inside the caves where the monks are buried. Above and beyond the call of duty! Many thanks and Cheers from Winnipeg, Canada!

Tour was indeed "marvelous" in every way. Amazing site, jaw-droppingly beautiful buildings shining in the late afternoon golden glow. Olga knew all the interesting history and showed us a remarkable amount in 45 minutes. She was well-prepared and charming and even had prepared a special treat for us (I won't spoil the surprise). Highly recommended tour.
