Retrace the footsteps of John Lennon through the Bermuda Botanical Gardens. Ever wondered where John Lennon got the inspiration for the "Double Fantasy" album? Tony will take you to the spot where Lennon saw the Double Fantasy freesia flower that became the title for his last album. You will then stroll to the Double Fantasy Sculpture located outside Bermuda's fabulous Masterworks Museum of Art, adjacent to the official residence of the Premier of Bermuda. But Lennon wasn't the only visitor to be inspired by the beauty of Bermuda. American painter Winslow Homer and Mark Twain both loved this dreamy semi-tropical island. This 45 minute tour with Tony will be one you don't want to miss!
I was raised in the entertainment world by my father who opened Bermuda's 1st International nightclub the 40 Thieves Club in 1962. Everyone from Mel Torme, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Ike & Tina Turner, Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones and dozens more performed at the 40. In 1970/1971 I was assistant to the tour manager on the Tom Jones US tour. In 1978 I built Bermuda's 1st disco - Disco 40. I have produced entertainment in Bermuda for over 30 years and created the Lennon Bermuda Peace Day Concerts. Artists I brought to Bermuda include: Nils Lofgren, Paul Carrack, Paul Young, Hiram Bullock, John Sebastian, Billy Preston, Jeff Golub, Roger McGuinn, Judie Tzuke, Squeeze, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Biggie Irie, Splashband, Spice & Co, Tony O'Malley, Jimmy Keys, Peaches & Herb, Gary US Bonds, The Fab Faux, Ramsey Lewis, Stanley Turrentine, The Hamish Stuart Band, Jamie Lawson. If I could describe myself in only one sentence, that would be... MUSIC IS MY LIFE. Besides being my livelihood, music has been, through all these years, my inspiration, my joy, my solace in times of trouble, and my compass when I've lost my direction. Music gives me energy and purpose, adds meaning to my actions and always brings a ray of sun that guides me through the darkest night.
