About the tour

Not sure what to pack for your holiday, take EVERYTHING! That’s just one of the really cool things about living on a ‘houseboat’ in Amsterdam! Join Lee and Mark in his garden and then amble along the quayside learning about different types of houseboats in the area with their gorgeous mini gardens! Then it’s welcome on board a friend’s vintage Dutch cargo barge that she lovingly rescued from the scrapyard and made into a cozy home and work space complete with Kees the Cat!

Meet Lee

Lee

Lee is a Dutch-Canadian who's worked as a professional guide and boat captain since 2009. Originally trained as a ballet dancer, she left the stage to travel the world, having visited over 100 countries so far, dancing, teaching and volunteering along the way. Among her most memorable experience was an extended tour through North Korea! As much as she loves exploring different cultures around the globe, she's just as happy at home in her favourite city, and can't wait to share with Heygoers all the reasons why Amsterdam is so amazing! Having joined countless tours along her travels and having led over 3,500 tours of her own, Lee has learned what makes a tour unforgettable . Her tours are carefully researched and not only cover detailed Dutch history and culture, but also fun facts, hidden gems, and tips on where to find the best shops, markets and food!

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Amsterdam with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

The view of the houseboat was fine but I would have liked to see it in motion on the water just not anchored in the dock/ The tour guide was very good though and answered questions.

Nice to meet you Lee and good to see you again mark. Nice meeting the amazing boat lady. Tour kind felt like I was picking h you guys to go visit a friend. Guess I expected more touring and less time at the house Guess I assumed it’d be on a canal with better scenery
