Today we are travelling to a city that will forever be in my heart, as my grandparents are from nearby and I walked these streets many times when growing up. This charming and small historical town is bathed by the Nabão river, which brings some freshness to this city in its hot summer days. One hundred years after the extinction of the Templar Knights and the creation of the Order of Christ, the governor of the latter develops the city of Tomar: not only he built a palace inside the castle walls, but he encourages the growth of the town through economic activities and urban growth. We will walk through the cobbled stone streets of the town, find the oldest synagogue in Portugal and learn about how it was turned into a museum.
Inês has been a licensed guide in Portugal since 2008. Her mother was a French and Portuguese teacher who fell in love with a Peruvian musician and craftsman in Paris. She considers herself a storyteller with a wide range of interests, from history to gastronomy, growing food in her small garden, hiking in the company of her wonderful dog and dancing. She is currently taking a massage course and learning how to sew! All in all, this means that Inês loves to explore different layers and perspectives of Lisbon, its culture and to share it with others!

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Tomar with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Tomar. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.
Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

Ines is my favorite tour guide, but this tour was exceptionally great. This town was on our itinerary to visit last year but had to cancel due to the pandemic, but now I am more excited to visit and enjoy after this tour with Ines. Hopefully next year! She shared a lot of personal stories along with her superb knowledge of everything from history to interesting local interest. She is one of the best tour guides anywhere. Looking forward to more trips with her!
