About the tour

Join me as I explore the sites and sounds of Bridgetown's main street; Broad Street. This old town, built between the 17th and 19th century, is an excellent example of British Colonial architecture. We'll start at my favourite place, the old Cheapside Market, and make our way up Broad Street. The old mix with the new in this historic city as we catch a glimpse of the newest, and largest mural in the eastern Caribbean, and take in the sites of the Georgian, neo-classical exterior design of St. Mary's Cathedral. Bridgetown is filled with a fascinating list of buildings dating back from the 1800s. Finish the tour with the crème de la crème of monuments: the neo-Gothic architecture of the Parliament Buildings.

Meet Gina

Meet Gina, the Barbados Island Girl. Having lived in Barbados most of her life she enjoys showing off her island home to visitors. With 7 years experience in guiding, she wants to tell you about how Bajans live, introduce you to the foods, teach you a folk song and show you those things that are uniquely Barbadian.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Barbados with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Barbados. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

I enjoyed having this first opportunity to travel with Heygo to a Caribbean destination, a part of the world that is still largely unfamiliar to me. I look forward to having the opportunity to see some more of Barbados if further tours of the island are planned in the future.

Lots of interesting facts, and I learned a lot about Bridgetown...loved Gina's GORGEOUS, lilting Bajan accent, and the fact that a street vendor invited her to stand under her umbrella to shelter from the rain was proof of how friendly Bajans are. Lovely to see all the volourful fruit and veg on the market stalls, too! Really enjoyed this tour and looking forward to touring with Gina again!
