About the tour

the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the adjoining Grand Palace together form the greatest spectacle for the visitor to Bangkok. It consists of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics, and dates back to 1782, when Bangkok was founded. When you enter the compound, you first of all see the Emerald Buddha Temple and the nearby attractions, and then move on to the Grand Palace afterwards. It is a pretty amazing place to visit so get ready to be wowed!

Words can’t express how exquisite these temples are! Kay did a fabulous job showing us around the area. I did get somewhat confused with King 1 and 2, and so on. Honestly, I was so busy drooling over the art of the buildings that it was really hard to concentrate. I still can’t believe how amazing the construction of these temples are! I do wish that Kay would have paused more and longer for postcards.

Kay is an excellent guide. He has a real gift of taking a complicated location and finding you the best portions to learn about and take postcards. He is super knowledgeable and engaging. I have had multiple tours with Kay now, and am looking forward to many more.

Kay is a very knowledgeable tour guide - the history of the rulers of Thailand, the art and architecture of buildings, etc. but I wish he would improve in one area, the ability to provide good "Postcard" occasions. He frequently focuses his camera on details of the walls, tiles, etc., and gives opportunities for people to take pictures, but when it comes to larger views, he usually cuts off the bottom or tops of buildings or other items, doesn't center the pictures, etc. Unlike most other Virtualtrips tour guides, he doesn't seem to have much experience with photography. I hope he gets some training in what a good photo consists of. I've been to several of his tours, and this is a recurrent problem.
