Glasgow is amazing! Everybody should come to Glasgow once. The city centre of Scotland’s biggest city is laid out on a grid like Manhattan. It is one of the finest Victorian cities in the United Kingdom. It was during the innovative and swiftly developing period of the 19th century, during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) that Glasgow became known as the Second City of the Empire. Glasgow was home to some famous architects such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson, James Sellars and William Leiper. In early November 2021 the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) will be held in Glasgow. Join me on a walk through Glasgow’s city centre starting out from the City Chambers on George Square.
Starting out in the Black Forest, Sven was living in Berlin and London before moving to Glasgow in 2010. Being interested in cities, museums, architecture, anthropology and photography he studied Art History and Sociology at the Open University in London and Museum Studies at the University of Glasgow, from where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2013. Between 2014 and 2018 he was Heritage Officer at the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society in Glasgow. It is in this role he started to offer walking tours. After living for nine month in Barcelona he returned to Glasgow just before lockdown.

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Glasgow with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Glasgow. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide's hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

Sven is a lovely guide. It is a great tour and it's surprising how many hidden locations there are that we get to see. The artwork is amazing, and it's lovely to hear all the information about the buildings.

Sven is obviously very knowledgeable of Glasgow. He walked in a good pace so we could get a good idea about the city environment. He's an expert on Charles Rennie Mackintosh as he said he worked as a heritage officer for the Mackintosh Society so I'd recommend him doing a walk dedicated to that. It would be very interesting with all his experience! I really enjoyed his tour and I'll recommend it to others.
