About the tour

The picturesque town of Bruges is a must-see in Belgium. Go back in time to the Middle Ages and explore the lovely medieval city, the historic buildings, and the canals. See the magnificent palaces, churches, and chapels, stroll over the Market Square, and marvel at the delicious chocolate on offer everywhere. While exploring the fairy tale town, I will tell stories about the past, the connection to the Netherlands, and the cycling culture in this beautiful town. In this Unesco World Heritage, you will feel like you're in a medieval fairy tale. Taste the best hot chocolate in Belgium or go for traditional mussels and fries with mayonnaise.

Meet Stephan

Stephan is a real Dutchie, he was born in Delft (the city of Vermeer), grown up in Gouda (the cheese city), studied in Leiden (city of Rembrandt) and he lived in Rotterdam (the harbour city) before moving to our capital Amsterdam in 2006. After a career in technology as an Online Strategist, he decided to leave behind the corporate world to start guiding visitors of Amsterdam and started his own private tour agency, Amsterdam Experiences. That’s when he discovered that walking and cycling around the city with international visitors is a lot more fun than a desk job! As a guide, Stephan loves to show his virtual guests the hidden gems of Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He has a passion for telling stories about Dutch history and culture. Stephan is very enthusiastic about the Netherlands and also guides tours in Delft, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Gouda, Leiden and Den Hague. Stephan’s tours cover a wide range of topics, whether that be sensitively tackling difficult subjects, such as Anne Frank and Jewish history of Amsterdam. However, he is equally comfortable being spontaneous, whether visiting goats in a goat farm to riding his orange flowerbike around with the flowerbike man himself. Stephan also now has tours in Belgium, covering Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. So join him on the bike or by foot, and see the highlights of the Netherlands or even perhaps Belgium.

What can I say about this tour except that it was absolutely stunning. The light and the reflections were perfect and created some incredible postcards. The start of the tour, with the medieval music, set the tone perfectly, and sent me right back into the past. A perfect tour, thank you.
