About the tour

Sydney Harbour Bridge? Tick. Sydney Opera House? Tick. We start with the sweeping views from Observatory Hill – the highest natural point in Sydney. We’ll stroll through the oldest neighbourhood in Australia, the Rocks, learning a bit about colonial and social history. Along the way we’ll pass two of the oldest pubs in the city before making our way to Circular Quay for postcard views of both the Bridge and the Opera House.

Meet your local guide

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is an American by birth, Australian by choice. She is a happy immigrant and resident of Sydney for nearly 21 years. Having been fascinated with Australia since she was 12, Elizabeth found that when she arrived in Sydney in 2000, she already knew more about her new home than many of the Australians she met. She finally put all that knowledge to work as a tour guide in 2019 – just in time to really fall in love with it before Covid hit. From the iconic sights that always take her breath away no matter how many times she’s seen them, like the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, to the little-known but beautiful corners of the city, Elizabeth loves exploring Sydney and showing it off to friends and guests. She lives in Manly, on Sydney’s northern beaches. She’s been very slowly blogging her way through all 84 of Sydney’s beaches and is working on a travel memoir about riding her bicycle around Europe.

Elizabeth has been guiding since Jun 2019

I thoroughly enjoyed Elizabeth's walk from Observatory hill down to the view of the Sydney Opera House. She was very informative, her voice was pleasant and unrushed. She answered all questions that she could, and was very honest about not knowing answers to others (not many!). I will be sure to take more of her tours of the Sydney area.

This was an interesting tour. I enjoyed looking at the housing and also the bridge. I loved seeing the opera house and the harbor with the ferries and other boats. It was a beautiful day for this type of tour. There does appear to be a problem with using the camera icon/postcard button. Nine times out of ten, when you've taken a postcard shot and then close the preview of your post card, the video is blurry. You then have to right click on the camera icon, go to reload and click on it, then reenter the tour.... missing a lot of the commentary/dialog and some of the scenery or buildings and items being shown. I have been doing virtualtrips/hego tours for weeks now, and this problem has only started this past few days, possibly part of the weekend. It really needs to be checked out, and hopefully corrected. I enjoyed Elizabeth as a tour guide, but because I am a "picture taker", I missed a significant amount of the tour.
