About the tour

Isn't it a nightmare to arrive at a restaurant and discover 4 knives and forks, 2 spoons, 3 glasses on the table? Should you cut the salad? How many pieces of cheese can you take and what about the bread...? Too many rules! Also, how to Say hello: Bonjour? Enchanté? “La bise” (kiss on the cheeks)? Shake hands? A hug? Should you bring flowers or wine? On this very special tour, Patrick takes you to his own home and will explain in more details the French "savoir vivre” And lucky you, Patrick will even teach you how to cook a simple Parisian snack, the famous “Croque madame” or "bite the lady”. How strange are the French! Disclaimer: allergen not provided.

Meet Patrick Herpe

Patrick Herpe

Patrick isn't one to shy away from travel and adventure. "I was lucky enough to travel the world with my job, discover different cultures, and meet incredible people!" he says, after having explored multiple cities across Europe and Asia. On his tours, you may catch more than a surprise or two about Paris. "In fact, it is an everyday experience. I'm a native Parisian, but every day, I continue to discover new things, new secrets about Paris. It's a never-ending story," he laughs. It was his love for Paris that led him to become a guide. "I'm a father and a teacher, and I realized that my passion was to share my knowledge, so I decided to be a guide about one of my passion: Paris!" Patrick chips in. "I enjoy sharing the love and passion I have for my own city, Paris. Its monuments, its history, its gastronomy, its culture, and all of its little secrets. I can't wait to share all of these with you!" "At the end of my tour I always give a virtual bise - two in fact being a good Parisian!" he laughs.

I didn't get to see much of the tour as I got the time wrong (I thought it was at 11:30, when it was at 11), and I experienced technical issues with my laptop, but the little that I did see was great. Thank you for inviting us into your home and sharing French cooking and etiquette with us. Thank you to your son for taping it with your phone.

So kind of Patrick to bring us into his kitchen. Croque Monsieur and Madame cooking demo was fabulous. The etiquette tips were fun to hear about. This tour was a 5 plus, highly recommend.

I really enjoyed "cooking" with Patrick. Such a pleasure to get tips from him on how the French do things. I look forward to taking more tours with him and doing more cooking:)
