About the tour

At approximately over 80km away from Cape Town, surrounded by imposing mountains and spectacular vineyards covering the mountain slopes, is Franschhoek: an elegant village of French origins situated right in the heart of the Cape Winelands. During the tour you will often wonder whether you are in South Africa or France as even the names of streets, farms, restaurants are written in French. During a relaxed walk on the main street of the notorious historic village, I will explain why there are so many associations to France. We will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful architecture, the elegant cafes, restaurants and the many art galleries.

In a non-covid time, this would be a more colourful tour, but Antonio did a great job of showing us some interesting places in this little village where French settlers came bringing a slice of their culture to Africa. \he hadf some interesting tales of the history of the area.

Antonio’s tours are always a delight! He takes us to places many of us may never see in person. His mix of culture and history without sounding like a classroom and his love of South Africa guarantee an informative and fun tour!
