About the tour

In this tour, we will have the history and the legends of the Golden Horn for the short time in the beginning and we will continue to Fener which is the former Greek Orthodox neighborhood then will follow with Balat Jewish neighborhood. You will hear many stories of these minorities, why they are not there anymore, where they have gone, the population of minorities today. We will also see many of the colorfully houses, churches and Synagogue.

Salih

Salih loves introducing Istanbul to people from different parts of to the world. He has been living in Istanbul for more then twenty years and felt at home from the first day he saw it. Salih started work as a guide in 2007 leading the groups in all over Turkey and since 2012 he's back to leading small group tours in Istanbul only. Beside showing the highlights of Istanbul he likes showing the hidden Istanbul, food markets and the selected restaurant and cafes. Salih feels blessed to live in this unique city which is the home for about sixteen millions of people and it manages very well to be great host. He's here to help his guests see this lovely city in the best way with providing a great selection from secrets and the highlights of Istanbul.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Istanbul with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.

The tour will last about 40 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Istanbul. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.


Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.

Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.

What a great tour of the old Jewish and Greek districts. I loved the architecture and historic context that Salih provides. It's great to see inside a few places where he is warmly welcomed by the cafe and bakery owners.
