It is no secret that the Sakura (cherry blossom) season in Japan is not only the most anticipated and beautiful season of the year, but is major part of Japan’s culture and history. On this tour, your guide will introduce to you the beauty of ‘hanafubuki’ the falling and scattering of the cherry blossom petals which often reminds of a snow storm, a special charm that we Japanese find especially fascinating. One of the best places to enjoy this beautiful view is right here in Tokyo Asakusa, along the Sumida River, where ‘hanami’ (cherry blossom viewing) dates back almost 300 years ago. Sitting underneath the trees, socializing while enjoying the white and pink blossoms is how the Japanese feel and enjoy spring every year. Continue and finish the tour then to the heart of the traditional Asakusa district, where Tokyo’s oldest temple is located: the Sensoji Temple.

always a blast touring with Tsunenobu. Luckily I visited Asakusa two years ago so it was great to see all the sites without the huge crowds. I love the whirlwind highlight tours but if he ever wants to slow down just a tiny bit, I would love to see some of the areas in more detail.

I was hoping for an experienced guide to talk about the historical aspects of what we were seeing. If you are looking for an avant garde guide who acts silly, then perhaps you might enjoy this tour.
