About the tour

Ennistymon is a pretty market town near the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast of Ireland. Famous for its colored shop fronts, the waterfall in the middle of the town, and as one of the main locations for the Father Ted TV series. Ennistymon has a long history, with many of its buildings dating to the 1700s, though it was probably first established by a branch of the O'Brien family when they built a castle there in 1564. This tour is a ramble through the pretty little town and along the Cullenagh River and the famous cascades, or waterfalls. We will also stop at some of the locations from the Father Ted comedy series. We will chat about the history of the town, the lives of the people living here, both past and present, and see many of the historic buildings and scenic spots. If your ancestors came from County Clare, keep an eye out for their name over one of the many shops and former pubs in this town!
