About the tour

Not far from Copenhagen lies the venerable old trading city of Elsinore, or Helsingør in Danish. This charismatic old city is Heather’s favorite, and her enthusiasm bursts its banks as she likens it to a medieval Dubai-like boom town - she’s even written a story about it! Situated on the busiest sea crossing in the world, it’s had a massive impact throughout history. 400 years of legal piracy was conducted through this city. Every ship which went in and out of the Baltic Sea had to pay a toll at Elsinore - all sanctioned by the King of course! You can still see the faded grandeur in the old buildings and embassies dotted around the city. The city's impact didn't stop there, however, because the massive Kronborg fortress along the coast is famous for having inspired Shakespeare when he wrote Hamlet. Time and signal willing we’ll sample the atmosphere of the city and walk around the brooding battlements next to the wild and churning sea.

Meet your local guide

We call Heather a guide but she has so many skills it feels like a single label isn't enough! It’d be more accurate to call her a guide, storyteller, journalist, artist, historian, and novelist. But then that would be a long title. Packing her personality and the colorful history of Denmark all into an exciting tour can only mean a boatful of fun and entertainment. Join her as she shares her love of Copenhagen and her infectious humor with you!

As usual, informative and a solid historical knowledge of events, dates and buildings throughout the tour. Heather’s fun side always surfaces and with Holly by her side, what can go wrong ... 👏😂

Lovely fresh and breezy tour with Heather this morning. Heather is a natural. Her tours are like being lead around a new city by an old friend. Warm, entertaining and informative.

Pictures were good but the interference from wind made it very difficult to hear commentary. Pity
