About the tour

Note – this tour takes place outside the museum. I am currently working on getting us inside the museum – this will hopefully happen in the coming months. Edvard Grieg (1843 – 1907) is Norway’s most famous pianist and composer. He was born and raised in Bergen, and after studying in Leipzig and working in Copenhagen, Grieg returned to Bergen and built a home called Troldhaugen. Located 10km (6 mi) from the city centre of Bergen, this home overlooks the gorgeous Nordås Lake and surrounding suburban area. This home became Edvard Grieg’s greatest source of inspiration, and it is from here that he wrote some of his most famous compositions. Join Emma for a walk to three major sites at Troldhaugen: The home, the composer’s hut, and Grieg’s gravesite. As we walk, I’ll talk about the life of Edvard Grieg, play some music, and show you how you can visit this museum.
