About the tour

Come fall in love with our little Nigerian Dwarf Goats, our exotic Huacaya Alpacas, and rare livestock dogs called Tornjaks. On this farm tour, you'll get up close and personal with each of these and learn some super interesting facts while having lots of opportunities to ask questions and of course take pictures. For instance, did you know that alpacas poop in one place? It makes it super easy for cleanup..:) And that their poop is the best fertilizer bar none for your garden? It has no acid, but loads of nitrogen and minerals that plants thrive on! Because it has no acid it can be used immediately, unlike most other manure. Come join us to learn even more fascinating facts!

Meet Farmer Debbie@HauteGoat

Farmer Debbie@HauteGoat

Farmer Debbie wasn't always a farmer. She was born in Toronto and spent most of her life there. She spent many years as a tv producer with her own company, was the Founding Executive Director of the Hot Docs Festival, helped to grow the Toronto Film Festival's Industry Centre. As much as she loved that industry, she has always been incredibly passionate about animals. So when her husband suggested they buy a farm outside the city, she jumped at the opportunity and never looked back. They bought their first farm in 2007. By 2009 they had 4 goats, 5 horses, a whole bunch of chickens and a few dogs and cats. What Shain and Debbie discovered is that whenever they mentioned having goats, friends, families and others pleaded to visit. The visitors came - and numbers grew like crazy. These days their Haute Goat Shmurgle and Alpaca Knuffle Shuffle are signature events at the farm. Visitors go hiking with the goats (total chaos) and end up in the Goat Playground snuggling, shmurgling and loving on the goats.....or go walking with the Alpacas in an incredibly tranquil, calming journey. We also have Icelandic Horses, an goofy big mule named Lucy Mae Belle and 3 Tornjak livestock dogs. Haute Goat is a place to really engage with animals in a very different way.
