Mark is a huge fan of Dutch design in general and of Droog Design in particular. Droog has always been difficult to categorise. It looked like a collective of young designers when it began in the early 1990s. It wasn't really a collective though, nor a movement, nor a shop. What it was is difficult to say, what it did is much easier: It took the design world by storm and introduced a large number of imaginative and innovative and downright amusing products. Nowadays Droog is more about ideas than products and at their Amsterdam showroom they host ongoing thought provoking exhibitions. At the moment, however, they still have their archive collection on display and have given Mark access to it after closing time in the various rooms of the building. He will guide you around and show some of these iconic Droog pieces from the last 30 years and the stories behind them. This collection is about to be put into storage so this is a one and only chance to see it.
Mark has been sharing places and stories about Amsterdam, his adopted home, for 10 years now and he is still smitten by the place! He absolutely loves distilling chunks of history into bite-sized bits of fun. The vibrancy of the city takes his breath away, and he loves finding odd little details to share. Live-streaming tours are an exciting adventure as it is possible to open places and areas that are not accessible on in-person tours!
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Amsterdam with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Amsterdam. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

What a fantastic & unusual tour! Loved it!! Enjoy design & although I heard of Droog design the only piece I actually saw before was the gathered lightbulbs. Absolutely loved the marble bench!!! Keep the "unusual, quirky, fun" tours coming, Mark - so much enjoyed this one!💟💟💟😎😎😎

Loved to see just one of the famed Dutch designers with a multipurpose and sense of humor in pieces. Function and form. Hope to see more design tours in the future.
