Even if few people know it, Sardinia is the home of muralism in Italy: in some of its villages, there are some of the most beautiful murals in the world. It is a kind of art born as a free creative expression of protest movements, which combines aesthetic and social value. From the 70s to today there are more and more small towns that have been enriched by the beauty of the wall paintings, decorated by local and international artists. The images often tell scenes of rural life, the styles are numerous, the prevailing one is the hyper-realism that manages to create real trompe l'oeil. I will accompany you on an original walk to admire these masterpieces that have transformed small places off the beaten path in real open-air museums.
