About the tour

In Sanskrit, the name Dieng consists of two words; 'Di' which means high place and 'hyang' which means heaven. When the two words are combined, Dieng means the mountainous area where the gods and goddesses reside. Dozens of temples are located in the Dieng plateau. One of them which is still complete in its architecture is Arjuna Temple. It is one of the relics of Hinduism which is Shiva sect. Archaeologists estimate that Arjuna Temple was the first Hindu temple built in Java in the 7th century. The Arjuna temple complex is located in Dieng Kulon, Batur District. In this complex there are five temple buildings, namely Arjuna Temple, Semar Temple, Srikandi Temple, Puntadewa Temple, and Sembadra Temple. These temples are used as places of prayer, Arjuna, Puntadewa, and Sambadra temples are temples used as places to worship Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, Srikandi Temple is used as a place to worship the Trimurti, three gods, namely Lord Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu.
