About the tour

We chose to show you a little taste of deep Chengdu Culture at ShuFengYaYun Sichuan Opera House. It was once a century-old pear garden with ups and downs and used to be where famous actors gathered. In 1998, ShuFengYaYun was built on this former site as one of the National Cultural Tourism Key Projects. The folk performances shown here include the famous face changing opera, puppetry, comedy show, music and beautiful costumes and make-up. If we’re lucky we may see some of these players as we never know who is back there and what they are rehearsing during the tour. Please follow your local guide to visit the backstage for the beautiful costumes and make-up. If you are lucky, we may even have a glimpse at some shows.

Great to see the cultural centre of Chengdu 's operatic theatre and also to be taken backstage and see the stage people getting dressed up and also the locals putting on the traditional costumes with heavy make up. A nice experience for all to enjoy this traditional custom at a Chinese theatre.
