Elemental to Melbourne's identity, the Yarra River is one of Victoria's iconic waterways with spiritual and cultural significance for Aboriginal communities. To the Wurundjeri people the river, known as Birrarung, was the life source and an important meeting place. Come for a cruise on the river 'that flows upside down'. Meander along the Yarra past the Melbourne Central Business District with excellent views of a 19th Century sailing ship “Polly Woodside”, the Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Crown Entertainment Complex, Docklands and Docklands Stadium, and the World Congress and Trade Centre. Scoot under the Bolte Bridge and the Westgate Bridge to shipping channels and discover one of the busiest trading ports in the Southern hemisphere.
Susanna is an avid reader of historical detective novels, a radio producer, civil celebrant, over-worked grandmother and, for fun, she reconstructs Ancient Roman recipes. For over 30 years she taught adults, particularly women, in the technical aspects of radio broadcasting and film production, or how to get out there and just do it. She's also been a social worker, a consulting psychologist, stage actor and barmaid. Susanna is a proud descendant of 19th century convicts, republicans and revolutionaries and still wants to be a time-traveller.

A good tour.

I enjoyed the cruise tour with Susanna. Unfortunately, I came on late, and had to leave just before the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to go on another tour with Susanna again!

Greater clarity in speech from Skipper. Guide might have provided a greater history of the name “Yarra”, and explain why the River appeared brown. Additional names of buildings eetc. More clarity in presentation, better organization. Mentioned subtext of the Guides words would increase effective communication

The boat company cancelled the boat one hour before we were to board. Susanna graciously came out and talked to all of us to let us know. I left soon after I heard that, and also told her not to worry and hopefully she can schedule it later. She felt bad, and we told her definitely not her fault!!! Another day, another time, and hopefully the company won't cancel on us again. She goes out of her way to take us on cool trips, like the train ride. Thanks Susanna!!! Sue in Oregon
