About the tour

'Beautiful City, Charming and pretty, Beautiful city my home by the Lee' in the words of John Fitzgerald. Let me introduce you to part of the beautiful city that is Cork. Join me as I take you on a tour of the beautiful and historic University College Cork campus. Find out why there were problems with the Western Gate that caused quite a stir. Walk through Fitzgerald's Park, across the Shaky Bridge and the River Lee. Until we finally arrive at the university's music department which gives a panoramic view of the city and it's harbour.

Meet your local guide

Christopher

Christopher has spent many years giving impromptu tours to locals and visitors from abroad. On many occasions people have suggested that he should set up a tour company and show people the secret side of Cork. Well it seems that you, dear guest, will have a chance to sample some of the beauty and secret locations in and around Cork city. Guiding people around Cork is just one of the many hats that Christopher wears. He is also a successful musician and teacher, a director, and actor. We're sure that you will find this charming Irishman a delight as he shows you his beautiful city.

Christopher has been guiding since Jul 2017

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We're travelling to Cork with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you'll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Cork. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to book and join, but you have the option to tip the guide during the tour.

Leaving a tip will help support the guides and allow us to offer tours in more places around the world. If you aren't able to leave a tip, then it would be great if you can share the tour with friends and family to spread the word.

Christopher is a very engaging lad, but lots of the time was wasted by walking down dull side streets. It would help if you recorded some sites in advance, then described them as a normal Zoom program with videos. End at a central location and answer lots of questions there. Cheers.

Very jerky camera movements (when walking, not because of the wind). Not a very picturesque area.

Personable, interesting and I was amazed that he could up with commentary from the ‘tourists’. Bravo

Christopher is a charming and knowledgeable guide. He did a great job and I look forward to taking more of his tours around the Cork area and beyond! I'll be looking out for tours to Kinsale, West Cork, Blarney Castle, Cobh, and more!
