Haarlem really does Christmas in a big way and the season is kicked off in early November with the arrival of Sinterklaas, by boat on the Spaarne River. He disembarks and rides on horseback through the city to the Grote Markt, with local kids singing Sinterklaas songs! From mid-December, the Grote Markt in Haarlem becomes the biggest Christmas market in the Netherlands with a massive Christmas tree and hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of food and delicacies. Think cheeses, meats, cinnamon stroopwafels, chocolates, mulled wine, and that's just for starters! Exploring the Christmas markets we find small choirs and local brass bands. There's even a Haarlem Winter Beer Festival run at the same time so lots to do and see! Mark will give you a front seat for all of these festivities and even sample the mulled wine for you under the twinkling lights of beautiful Haarlem.
Mark has been sharing places and stories about Amsterdam, his adopted home, for 10 years now and he is still smitten by the place! He absolutely loves distilling chunks of history into bite-sized bits of fun. The vibrancy of the city takes his breath away, and he loves finding odd little details to share. Live-streaming tours are an exciting adventure as it is possible to open places and areas that are not accessible on in-person tours!
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Haarlem with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Haarlem. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
