About the tour

The monument of Christ the Redeemer is located at the top of Corcovado mountain and to reach that you can go in three ways, hiking, using minivans or the traditional way, taking the Train of Corcovado. I will show the train station, the train and the beginning of the journey up. Why just the beginning? Because don´t have an internet connection in most of the ride going up to Corcovado and in the Tijuca National Park, very dense Atlantic Rain Forest where Corcovado is part of. After 30 minutes of part 1, I will show you the monument and views. This railway is historic and the train has been used by millions of visitors and many famous people, let´s be there in a virtual way?

Such a shame Danna lost her connection even sooner than she had hoped, as this would have been so much fun travelling up the mountain on the train. Shame some gave a one star rating for something offered to them at no cost and for technical problems not the fault of the guide. Danna is a great guide (I love her accent!) and she hosted this trip at her own expense. Not quite sure how some people expected to be informed the tour would restart at the top, when there was no internet signal - but if they had read the chat, or indeed checked out the two tours on offer, they would have known part 2 was starting after 30 minutes 🙄

Danna did warn us on her Sugar Loaf trip that there could be signal and weather problems going up Corcovado. The view of Christ the Redeemer up there in the bright blue sky, seen as we waited for the train to leave, gave much encouragement. But soon after we set off the signal dropped so there was nothing to do but chat for 30 minutes —- continued on Pt2:

Although the connection wasn’t good today, we saw a few great views of Christ the redeemer. Thank you Danna. I hope we can do it again if you see it can work.

Danna tried her best, not her fault, signal changes due to weather and other conditions, it is very hard to predict. She just wanted us to have the full experience, it came from a good place.
