About the tour

During this tour, you will get to learn how to cook chicken biryani, a savory chicken and rice dish that includes layers of chicken, rice, and aromatics that are steamed together for a wonderful traditional Indian dish. This is the list of ingredients you will need for the class: 500 grams of chicken 500 grams of basmati rice 1 tsp Black pepper 4 cloves 1 spoon cumin 2 pieces of green cardamom 1 piece of black cardamom 1 spoon of fennel 1 spoon of coriander seeds 1 cinnamon stick Salt depending on your taste 4 pieces of green chili 1 lemon ½ cup of oil ½ spoon of red chili powder 1 medium size onion 1 spoon of garlic paste 1 spoon of ginger paste Kewra water (optional) 2 bay leafs You will also need: 1 cotton napkin to mix spices 1 half size cooking pot for the rice Please put the rice in a pot with water, 30 minutes before our class starts.

Thank you for sharing your curry with us. I found it a bit difficult to understand the amount of spices to use but I used what I had and cooked a pretty good biryani last night. Thank you

I appreciate the efforts to bring us this cooking program but I found it difficult to follow along, partly due to language, some due to unfamiliar products to me (without explanation) and part because explanation was unclear to me. I appreciated their willingness to bring us into their home and show us around. Always so interesting to see how others live. Although I was a bit confused, I’m going to make this dish at home but will probably consult an Indian cookbook so things are clearer. Applaud those who were cooking along...hopefully it was clearer to you than myself. Has to be difficult to attempt such a tour when it’s not what you are used to doing, but know they are trying to make an honest living. Thank you.
