About the tour

Visit the square where everything began. The Plaza de Mayo is the oldest public square in Buenos Aires, and the scene of many of the most important events in the city’s history. Fabian will take you on a journey around the square, surrounded by beautiful buildings such as the Presidential Palace (the Casa Rosada - or Pink House) and the impressive Metropolitan Cathedral. Feel the vibes of the "porteños" as the locals are called; there may even be a demonstration to witness too! On this tour, you’ll learn about the oldest underground transport system in Latin America, understand why the cathedral is now known as “the Pope’s Church”, and see the famous balcony where Eva Peron (Evita) gave her famous speech in 1952.

Meet FabianBA

Almost a decade ago, Fabian kickstarted his career as a tour guide after leaving a cushiony corporate role as an HR Manager. Since then, he has enjoyed spinning exciting stories to travelers and taking them through one of the most European cities of Latin America. Through his lens, you will discover the city that's home to the widest avenue, the widest river, and brimming with people who love football. Buenos Aires was a British colony for a little over a month, but it carries with it a hint of different cultures. "Argentineans are Italians who speak Spanish but they think they live in France!" Fabian laughs. Through his tours, you might hear him sing a tango (or humming to U2’s “With or Without You”), learn a couple of magic tricks (fun fact: he's an amateur magician!), and check out yerba mate, a super healthy herbal tea that's a local popularity. "Being a tour guide is a bit like a teacher, and I enjoy telling stories. Buenos Aires is full of stories, bizarre, strange, hard to believe stories," he says.

Fabian deftly reorganised his tour because of a huge demonstration in Plaza de Mayo. We went on the oldest tube and saw original posters, amazing! We saw the places which he had wanted to show albeit from a distance and we went into the metropolitan Cathedral. Superb!

Somehow my last review did not got off the starting blocks. Anyway. Both of todays, Thursday 15 July 2021, tours were rather special. Both very gentle paced giving all of the guests time to take in the views and listen to the words spoken by Fabian. The afternoon tour was really special in that not only did we get to ride on the subway, we were treated to a rather peaceful demonstration, with, surprisingly, very little noise. That and the subway ride really did make this particular tour - special. Muchos Gracias Fabian. Fabian - thank you for an entertaining two tours. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Don B Dorset UK
