About the tour

When the sun goes down, Brussels changes from a bustling vibrant city into a fairytale dreamland full of mystery and wonder. As we walk through the almost empty streets of Brussels, we see some of the most beautiful parts of the city lit up by vibrant yellow lamps. Walking from the royal palace, we pass over the mont des arts, with its stunning view over the city centre. We continue downhill and see the tower of the cathedral, the impressive market square and the Gothic town hall all delicately illuminated to add to the ethereal otherworldliness of this fantastical confection. So join me as I explore this enchanting city by night. Come with me as I tell stories of Brussels, the royal family and the amazing buildings we pass. Soon you too will feel like you're part of the fairy tale.

Meet Stephan

Stephan is a real Dutchie, he was born in Delft (the city of Vermeer), grown up in Gouda (the cheese city), studied in Leiden (city of Rembrandt) and he lived in Rotterdam (the harbour city) before moving to our capital Amsterdam in 2006. After a career in technology as an Online Strategist, he decided to leave behind the corporate world to start guiding visitors of Amsterdam and started his own private tour agency, Amsterdam Experiences. That’s when he discovered that walking and cycling around the city with international visitors is a lot more fun than a desk job! As a guide, Stephan loves to show his virtual guests the hidden gems of Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He has a passion for telling stories about Dutch history and culture. Stephan is very enthusiastic about the Netherlands and also guides tours in Delft, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Gouda, Leiden and Den Hague. Stephan’s tours cover a wide range of topics, whether that be sensitively tackling difficult subjects, such as Anne Frank and Jewish history of Amsterdam. However, he is equally comfortable being spontaneous, whether visiting goats in a goat farm to riding his orange flowerbike around with the flowerbike man himself. Stephan also now has tours in Belgium, covering Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. So join him on the bike or by foot, and see the highlights of the Netherlands or even perhaps Belgium.

Stephan is an outstanding guide in my opinion for several reasons. Wherever he takes you he’s knowledgeable, professional and fun. Brussels had never been high on my list of places to visit (not for any specific reason and I feel bad for saying that). However, thanks to Stephan, it is now on my bucket list. I never appreciated just how beautiful and interesting a city it was. Thanks for opening my eyes Stephan.
