About the tour

"The finest view in all my kingdom" - that was the opinion of King Charles I looking out from the medieval castle in the 17th Century. On this tour, you can find out whether he was right! From the superbly kept and brightly coloured gardens on the site of the former castle, to the castle ruins leaning at four times the angle of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a church designed by one of Britain's greatest civil engineers, we stroll along the clifftop pathway taking in the views of the Severn valley before descending to the riverside, once one of England's busiest inland ports, along the wonderfully preserved steep medieval streets to finish with great views back up to the High Town from the bridge. If you like to mix the historic with the scenic, this is definitely the tour for you!

Meet Ian

Hello and thanks for visiting. I’m Ian, a professionally qualified guide. I hold the Blue Badge, which is the UK’s highest tour guiding qualification and have many years’ experience guiding in both English and German. My passion is sharing places and stories with people from around the world, and helping them discover more about this country and particularly the Midlands, where I have lived for almost all my life. I have a friendly and informal style and always aim to bring history to life with anecdotes about people and events rather than just dry facts. I love the sense of community with Heygo and enjoy seeing the same people joining multiple tours. On all of my tours you can expect information, humour and friendly conversation. I want you to sit back, relax and enjoy the experience as you take a walk with your new friend in England. Wherever in the world you are from, I look forward to giving you the warmest of British welcomes.

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Shropshire with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Shropshire. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
