About the tour

London's 'Borough' district is known for its market and its close proximity to London Bridge, but do you know what is hidden beyond these landmarks? Join Charley in her very own neigborhood as she unlocks the secrets behind a cemetry, a community garden and dickensian streetnames. And if your lucky you might even meet some local characters or business owners on the way.

Meet Charley London

Charley London

London is a potpourri of different cultures - more than a third of the city's population is foreign-born. Charley fell in love with London as a teenager and always enjoyed showing her city to others. Her first job out of University was guiding on the open-top buses. And since then, there has been no turning back. After 6 years of guiding across major tour companies (EF, BBC, and secret food tours), she decided to kickstart her own venture. On her tours, you might just find yourself bumping into a surprise. "I had a lookalike of Prince William on my bus! People thought it was the real one," she laughs. The surprises don't stop there. "I introduce people to landlords of my favourite pubs and prioritize family-owned local business over the popular chain businesses," Charley quips. For Charley, drinking in the Beefeater's secret pub within the Tower of London features as one of her best experiences in the city. She's wearing multiple hats, working part-time selling ham and cheese at Borough Market (London's oldest and best food market), while studying to be a psychotherapist. Whoever said you can't have it all?

I love Charley's tours that show us the every day side of London because they hold the greatest of surprises and the Borough tour was no exception. Lots of stories that tugged on our heartstrings, learning about and admiring ghost signs, everything added to the sense of being on an adventure. Would do it again in a heartbeat and I hope there will be more in the future.

What a wonderful and unique tour! What could be better than touring in the guide’s own neighborhood- especially when they love living there!

I had dreadful trouble with the visuals. It was the same with the bus tour last Sunday - no visuals. Today I eventually had a series of still shots. This hasn't happened with any of the other Virtual Trips so I'm not sure what is happening. Very disappointing as Charley obviously is an excellent, knowledgeable guide and I will certainly try again. I think it was only me who had the problem so I'm pleased that everyone else enjoyed the experience. Great area to explore
