About the tour

Bodø is the second-largest city in Northern Norway. The entire town was destroyed by occupying German forces in April-May 1940. After the war, the city was completely rebuilt in a post-war concrete style. In the last few years, the city has been making efforts to revitalize and stylize its downtown area. Many of these ugly concrete buildings have been decorated with murals by artists from all over the world. There is also a brand new library and cultural center. All this allowed Bodø to have now been named the 2024 European Capital of Culture. Join me on this walk to explore the ways in which Bodø is changing and why you should visit the city! Emma is a licensed tour guide living in Bergen, Norway. Originally from Australia, Emma fell in love with both the city (and a Norwegian!) and moved to Bergen in 2015. She has been a guide ever since. In addition to providing walking tours of Bergen, Emma also does guide tours throughout Norway and Finland. Emma runs her own business called I Love Bergen, which gives customized walking tours of Bergen. Her tours focus on unique aspects of history, culture, architecture, and stories of everyday life.

I thought you told the tragic story of Bodo in WW2 very sympathetically but I’m not a fan of the 50’s architecture!
