In this series of trips, Stephan takes the train to another city in the Netherlands that he knows well. He rents a bicycle at the station and takes you through the old city center. In part 1 of this series we visit The Hague, the city where the government and parliament are located. We drive through the medieval center of power, see the chamber of the Dutch Prime Minister, pass one of the most famous Dutch museums and see where the king works. We also see the most beautiful street in the country and if we are lucky with the weather the famous peace palace. During the bike tour we discuss the typical Dutch cycling culture and the many highlights that The Hague has to offer. Get on your virtual bike and discover The Hague!
Stephan is a real Dutchie, he was born in Delft (the city of Vermeer), grown up in Gouda (the cheese city), studied in Leiden (city of Rembrandt) and he lived in Rotterdam (the harbour city) before moving to our capital Amsterdam in 2006. After a career in technology as an Online Strategist, he decided to leave behind the corporate world to start guiding visitors of Amsterdam and started his own private tour agency, Amsterdam Experiences. That’s when he discovered that walking and cycling around the city with international visitors is a lot more fun than a desk job! As a guide, Stephan loves to show his virtual guests the hidden gems of Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He has a passion for telling stories about Dutch history and culture. Stephan is very enthusiastic about the Netherlands and also guides tours in Delft, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Gouda, Leiden and Den Hague. Stephan’s tours cover a wide range of topics, whether that be sensitively tackling difficult subjects, such as Anne Frank and Jewish history of Amsterdam. However, he is equally comfortable being spontaneous, whether visiting goats in a goat farm to riding his orange flowerbike around with the flowerbike man himself. Stephan also now has tours in Belgium, covering Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. So join him on the bike or by foot, and see the highlights of the Netherlands or even perhaps Belgium.
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to The Hague with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from The Hague. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.

You always know you're in for a good tie with Stephan, and he didn't disappoint on this one! How he managed to ride, hold a phone, and give a high-quality, informative and entertaining tour boggles my mind. He was also very responsive to questions and queries from the voyagers, and made sure to get some amazing postcard shots for them, even going above and beyond. Thanks Stephan!
