About the tour

When did Portugal start importing sugar? What about producing it? Which other products were traded during the maritime explorations, and where were they brought from? Let’s go on a world voyage by using the giant map standing in from of the Monument to the Discoveries, in Belém. Not too far we will also find the Belém Tower, responsible for the defense of the port back in the 1500’s.

Meet Ines

Born and raised in Lisbon, I have very fond memories of my childhood and adult life here. I became a national licensed guide at the age of 22, after a degree in Tourist Guiding. I have had the chance to meet wonderful people from all over the world, and I was lucky to be able to travel abroad several times. I also worked as a tour manager mostly in Europe, and decided to settle down in my home city in 2017, becoming a full time local guide in Lisbon and surroundings, so I could learn even more about it and share it with you! I consider myself a storyteller that likes to weave the connections between history, people, heritage, nature and food. I am looking forward to welcoming here, whether virtually or in person! If you are coming to Lisbon soon, contact me for information on my private walking and minivan tours. Cheers!

What to expect

Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Lisbon with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing content creator.

The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your content creator directly from Lisbon. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!

While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your content creator and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.

Why are they tip-supported?

We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.

The majority of your tip goes directly to support the channel, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.

Obrigada, Ines - I loved this tour so much that I booked the next one. Ines is my kind of tour guide - that gives you the official history but also makes a reflection about the facts - I always recommend booking tours in Portugal to understand better the history of Brazil and this is a must tour to book.

First time touring with Ines. A very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. It was good to visit somewhere you’d actually visited to learn all about it. Having fallen in love with both tower and memorial it was good to learn more about them both.

Ialways enjoy tours with Ines, and this one was no exception. Wonderful to be back in Lisbon with her, and nice to see some good weather - we could do with it her in the UK. Thank you - and see you again very soon
