Before Anne Frank went to her hiding place, she happily lived with her family in Amsterdam South. On this trip we look for the neighborhood where Anne and her Sister grew up, we see the public primary school, the square where she played and the bookshop where her father bought the famous diary. I will show how she was just a normal girl who played with her friends at the playground, went to school, and enjoyed her childhood life in Amsterdam. To describe her life in Amsterdam there are some parts of her diary I will use to describe her thoughts and feelings when she just started writing as a 13 year old girl.
Stephan is a real Dutchie, he was born in Delft (the city of Vermeer), grown up in Gouda (the cheese city), studied in Leiden (city of Rembrandt) and he lived in Rotterdam (the harbour city) before moving to our capital Amsterdam in 2006. After a career in technology as an Online Strategist, he decided to leave behind the corporate world to start guiding visitors of Amsterdam and started his own private tour agency, Amsterdam Experiences. He found out that walking and cycling around the city with international visitors is a lot more fun than a desk job! As a host, Stephan loves to show his virtual guests, the hidden gems in Amsterdam through the eyes of a local. He has a passion for telling stories about Dutch history and culture. So join him on the bike or by foot, and see the highlights of Amsterdam.
Stephan has been guiding since Jul 2016
Get ready for something special. We’re travelling to Amsterdam with no passport, no plane ticket and no luggage. And yet you’ll experience all the sights, sounds and stories with just your laptop, favorite snack and an amazing guide.
The tour will last about 45 mins and will be live-streamed by your guide directly from Amsterdam. Forget about slideshows or pre-recorded videos, this is a live broadcast and anything can happen!
While on the tour you’ll be able to see a full screen video of your guide and their surroundings, interact with them and other travellers through the live chat, see where you are in the world on a map and show your appreciation with a tip.
We are running these tours on a tip-supported basis to make them as accessible as possible. They are free to join, but you have the option to leave a tip during the tour.
The majority of your tip goes directly to support the guide’s hard work, while the rest helps Heygo continue to build a place that brings the world closer together.
Reserve your spot by selecting a time to book. Once done, you’ll be able to see your reservations on your Trips page and we’ll send you an email confirmation with a link to join the tour.
