In December 1926 Agatha Christie disappeared. The discovery of the crime writer’s abandoned car led to the biggest manhunt in British history for a missing person. As each day passed concern mounted. Eleven days later she was found in Harrogate. She claimed to be suffering from amnesia but it was a real life red herring. On this tour we will explore the circumstances of her disappearance and why she chose Harrogate. In this tour of one of England's most celebrated spa towns we will visit the stunning Valley Gardens, home to the spa wells that brought Harrogate to fame for their restorative powers. We will pass the home where the celebrated author JRR Tolkien and hear how he time spent in recovery after the Battle of the Somme shaped his literary career. Finally after taking in the sights we will finish at the the world famous Betty's, home of the Fat Rascal, a Yorkshire treat in this most wonderful Yorkshire town
