About the tour

With its unique shade of blue, the Bow River is a great place to explore and has a great vista overlooking the rapids and Bow falls from above. The river road viewpoint has the lower falls view, which is spectacular. From above the power and fast-flowing waters can be appreciated. From below the falls are roaring and then downstream, seems so tranquil. This great stroll will take us from Banff Avenue along the River to the Falls and who knows, if we're lucky, we might even catch an elk having a drink!

Meet Pamela

Pamela’s passion for the natural world was honed by her work at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where countless field trips informed her expertise of birds, animals, insects, frogs, geology, plants, and trees. Since moving to Canada, Pamela has immersed herself in a totally different environment, but one she’s no less passionate about. When not outdoors, her nose is typically in a book, learning more about the world beyond her incredible backyard. Which is exactly what she provides for others on her tours; a deep knowledge of a place like few others on earth, letting Heygoers like you understand and appreciate Banff the way she does.

I really enjoyed Pamela's tour, she is clear in her delivery and very informative about everything from the flora and fauna to the geology of the area and about the river. She doesn't rush about, she takes her time giving viewers the opportunity to see what she is talking about. At the same time Pamela is aware of how long she has spent on something and keeps the tour moving so it stays interesting.
